The Baushi Royal Foundation was first registered in Zambia in April 2024.
It was formed as part of the main resolution reached by the Baushi Chiefs - namely, their Royal Highnesses Chief Mibenge; Chief Mabumba, Chief Chisunka; Chief Kalaba; Chief Kasoma Lwela; Chief Matanda; Chief Sokontwe; Chief Kalasa Lukangaba; Chief Chimese; and Senior Chief Kalasa Mukoso, in November 2023 at Chita Lodge, Samfya.
The meeting was attended by high profile Ushi Subjects from across the country, who agreed with the Chiefs that it was time to reorganise themselves and develop the Baushi Commonwealth (and Luapula Province) by crafting a robust development charter.
Thus, a resolution of the meeting was reached - and it was resolved to reconstitute a new team of experts with diverse skills and knowledge, whose primary responsibility would be to rejuvenate the iChabuka Ne Sandulula Traditional Ceremony and to support the Ushi Chiefdoms and their Royal Highnesses through the creation of development initiatives and programs.
The following year in 2024, the Baushi Royal Foundation was duly registered. Its key objectives are as follows:
